Here I am telling a true ghost story about my old apartment in Somerville, Massachusetts. That's what I get for moving onto Elm Street! It was a true nightmare, only I was awake because it was too scary to sleep! (Thanks to Mark DiAngelo for the spooky soundtrack!)
In my most recent newsletter I asked what you're up to for Halloween and what your favorite things to do on Halloween are! Let me know in the comments, booty bouncer!

Your very own poltergeist! You are an excellent storyteller, i loved everything about it, especially the Nixon impression. You funny.

Thank you, Cindy!! The Nixon part is my favorite, too. ;) He gave out gold pens with his name on it and little autographs. Kooky.

I was going to go as a Writer--pencil behind my ear, notepad and HuffPo Press pass, ha ha. But I decided to be a Hippie Chick and carry a bongo drum. Pics to follow. Love you much

Love both of those, Cindy! Wish I could hippie/bongo out with you! I think I'm going as a unicorn. But I thought about going as "everything" and sewing a huge cape out of galaxy fabric. Perhaps too ambitious for today. Love youuu!

Oh Jenn...you and halloween and spooky stories. Perfect blend. So you ask what I was up to for halloween...I survived it. That was the goal. I rushed home after oldest kids' soccer championship game (yes they won and are going to the state tournament) and wanted to curl up in bed from all the excitement and sogginess of watching high schoolers play their hearts out in pouring rain BUT I had a younger child that needed attention and the experience of walking up to strangers houses and asking for candy even though 364 days of the year we freak out about TOO MUCH SUGAR. It is a fucked up holiday. I put on a pizza party for the younger child and his best friends family and had the house all decorated and created all the memories a good mama can for her family. I drank beer and remembered to breathe and enjoy the little moments and let go of needing to make it all perfect. I used paper plates. I didn't get veggies on the table. I made sure they drank enough water and were warm. I got them in bed at a reasonable time but late enough so they could relish in a special night. And then I crashed. And today I've let them watch 6 hours of tv because MAMA NEEDS A BREAK! That's my halloween recap. xoxo

I agree -- it totally is a fucked up holiday! I was saying the same thing to Brent yesterday. I feel like I SHOULD love it because I'm that kind of gal but my inner introvert, anxiety freak and perfectionist gang up and make me feel crappy, plus I've been eating sugar for two weeks (and usually don't, like you say). I hope you're getting the rest you need today! Brava, mama!! You did it ALL. And here I've been complaining about going to parties! XOXO Oh, and thank YOU!
